Dude dares to tell Dr. Dee he’s wrong

As predicted, I got some backlash from yesterday’s email about Sean Spicer’s apology.

My fav came from subscriber Charlie who didn’t think a heartfelt apology was enough and made the following comparison:

“Wow, using that logic, if Hitler had just apologized everything would have been okay too. NO!”

Um, Charlie, my man, methinks there is quite a difference between saying something stupid and murdering millions of people.

I love his response though because it allows me to illustrate a very cool psychic sales technique that you can take an immediately use. It’s called the “unrelated statement close.” Here’s how it works:

You say something you want your audience to believe and compare it with something ridiculous. Let me give you an example.

Let’s say you want your audience to believe that a promise you’re making is absolutely true. You could say:

“There are some people who don’t think I can actually get you (BIG RESULT).  Of course, there are people who don’t believe we landed on the moon either.”

What you’re doing is comparing someone who doesn’t believe you to someone who doesn’t believe something as that is clearly true, thus, putting your prospect in a bind. If they don’t believe you, they are putting themselves in a ridiculous category.

How can you use this technique in your next presentation?

Kick butt, make mucho DEEnero!
