I got an email from a dude who objected to my email titled The Problem With NLP & Other Stupid Lies That Cost You Money.
He said he was a fan of mine but is not anymore. How will I go on?
He wrote that “negativity” didn’t serve me me and even accused Mr. “Happy Go Lucky” Dee of being grumpy. Oh, the humanity! He also told me that he used manifestation techniques daily and that they absolutely work.
I explained to this misguided youth that I never claimed they didn’t work but, done in isolation, without actual effort, coupled with competence – leads to delusion. Just as the late Gary Halbert said, “You accomplish more by movement than by meditation.” Hey, I meditate daily and then I get my ass to work.
And, to all my positive thinking friends, negativity has it’s place in the success equations as well. Sometimes the best motivator is when you are fed up and say “ENOUGH!” You might never get to that point if you are gleefully saying affirmations trying to convince yourself that everything is just hunky-dory, when it’s not.
People who really know me, know that I’m a positive guy. I definitely believe what Zig Ziglar says, “Positive thinking won’t let you do anything but it will help do everything better than you can with negative thinking.” But believe me Bubba, there are times to get pissed off.
You’re darn tootin that I get angry when snake-oil salesman try to sell folks a bill of goods and take advantage of people who are searching for real answers to their problems.
I’m in the business I’m in for three reasons in this order:
- It gives me freedom and the power to control my life.
- The DEEnero is stellar.
- I get to positively impact people’s lives and in some cases, TRANSFORM their lives. What a gift!
Yeah, I know that some people have my #3 reason as there #1 reason – or at least say they do but all of those reasons are important to me. So when a guru in the information marketing business rips someone off with unrealistic promises or hyped up claims, you bet I’m going to get all negative on them.
So to my former fan, I bid you adieu and wish you the best of luck on your business journey but don’t cry for me Argentina, I’ll do just fine.
