Go out there and get ’em killa…

My first job out of college was in radio advertising sales.

My “training” consisted of the sales manager slapping me on the back and saying, “Go out there and get ’em killa.” Fortunately, master sales trainer Tom Hopkins was coming to town and I went to his seminar.

This was the first time I realized I could improve myself through self-education. I sat in rapt attention as Mr. Hopkins mesmerized his audience. I was in awe as people rushed to the back of the room to buy is products – myself included.

After the event, I sent Mr. Hopkins a letter telling him how much he inspired me and that one day I wanted to be a speaker, just like him. A couple weeks later, I received a personal letter from Mr. Hopkins. He graciously thanked me for my kind words and encouraged me to follow my dreams.

Fast forward 15 years or so. I am booked to speak before a group of financial advisors. Guess who is the keynote speaker. Yep, Tom Hopkins. The organizer asks me if I’d like to meet him. Because I knew he was going to be on the same platform as me, I brought the letter he had sent me.

I told Mr. Hopkins the story and showed him the letter. He said how how proud he was of me. Then, he opened HIS presentation by telling my story and having the audience applaud for me. Now that’s CLASS.

You never know what is going to inspire you and to change the course of your life. Remember, no matter where you are right now, you can make your dreams come true.

Here is a minute and a half video of Tom Hopkins I think you’ll enjoy and profit from.
