An important assignment for you...

Happy Halloween, my friend!

Today I am going to give you an assignment that is downright scary and powerful. Read on and do then make sure you follow through!

A well crafted sales letter will produce more sales and leads for you, with the least amount of effort, than anything else you do.

If there is one area my subscribers need to work on, it is writing sales letters.

From what I've read, it doesn't seem like most people are spending serious thought, time, and effort into putting together a killer sales letter.

Here is a sales letter writing exercise that will have a profound effect on how much dee-nero you pocket and on the success of your business.

Imagine someone who you deeply love (your child, spouse, family member, or yourself) was being held hostage by a maniac. And this maniac was holding a gun to the head of your loved one and was going to pull the trigger...unless you wrote a letter selling your product or service that got incredible results. Now sit down and write that sales letter.

This is NOT a joke or a cute exercise. I am very serious about this. I want you to actually get into the state of having to write a sales letter that produced results or someone who you loved would be killed.

Mail this letter to yourself u in it's final form, exactly as you would is your loved one's life depended on it.

Remember: You are writing a sales letter that *must* work. What are you going to do to make it happen?

Kick butt, make mucho dee-nero!

Dave Dee

P.S. By the way, I'd also put some serious thought into how the letter is going to be delivered. The best sales letter is no better than the worst sales letter if it doesn't get read.

P.S. #2: One of the best and least expensive courses that teaches you a system for "writing any size paycheck you like, as often as you like" by writing killer copy is Dan Kennedy's little known "Copywriting Clinic." Check it out at: http://dankennedywebsite.com/copyclinic.htm

What to do when you're 0 and 8

My ears are ringing from last nights Bruce Springsteen concert in LA but it was sooooo worth it. Even after all these years the guy to puts everything he has into every song.

Today though, I'd like to talk to you about my beloved Miami Dolphins...well sort of.

This once proud franchise has not won a game this season. In fact, they have lost eight in a row and I wouldn't be surprised to see them go winless. This team is horrible. So what does this have to do with success and moneymaking? Glad you asked!

Over the past five or so years, the Dolphins management has made one bad decision after another from hiring the wrong coaches to drafting the wrong players. Every year it seems, the Dolphins made a series of really bad moves. Now, they are seeing and feeling the result of their decisions

You see, most of the time success or failure is not the result of one event or one decision but rather the accumulation of your decisions. The guy says, "Oh, I'll just skip exercising today." The next day he still feels and looks good so he thinks, "Hey, I'll skip exercising today too!" Over time, this decision not to exercise will lead to a health disaster.

On the opposite side of the coin, a woman decides to start reading books related to her profession for 30 minutes every day. At first there are no visible results from this practice but over time she'll become more confident, become a respected expert in her field and make more dee-nero.

Today, decide on one simple success habit that, if engaged in consistently, will have a positive impact on you in the years to come.

Kick butt, make mucho dee-nero!

You need this and I need your help...

I'm sitting in a New York City hotel room. I absolutely love the energy this city has. It feels so different than any other place I've ever visited.

Yesterday I had a coaching call. No, I did not "do" the coaching call, I paid for the call. There are three important reasons I did this. Here they are and then I'm going to ask for your help.

First, I practice what I preach. I pay a LOT of money getting coaching, attending seminars, buying other people's products, etc. School is never out for the real pro and I proudly say that I am a lifetime student.

Second all great masters from Anthony Robbins, to Dan Kennedy, to Tiger Woods, to me pay for coaching. Every successful person does. Period. They might not call it "coaching" they might say they hire "advisors" but it's basically the same thing.

Third, my call yesterday was extremely productive and enlightening. Not only because I got new insights but also because I got confirmation that I was on the right track.

Do you have a coach or belong to a real mastermind group? I'm tellin' ya it can catapult you to much greater success much faster than you can imagine.

I'm in the process of developing what will be the best coaching/mastermind group on the planet for small business owners. This thing is going to be spectacular and I need your help in making it so.

I WANT YOUR INPUT.

Please send an email to david@davedee.com with the *top three things* you'd want in a coaching program. Please use the subject line "Coaching Program Input." Everyone who does this is going to receive a killer book about how to radically increase your businesses profitability. (The book is really really good,)

Please take the time to do this now.

Gracias.

Is it okay to be "negative?"

The guru's always preaching "be positive, be positive, be positive!" They insist that being positive is the only way to achieve true success.

But is it?

Surely, a positive person is more pleasant to be around than a negative person. Surely a positive person with an "I can" attitude is probably willing to try more things because they believe that they can accomplish more. (Note the word "probably." I know plenty of SOB's who have very successful businesses.)

On the other hand, the person who is always positive and lives in pollyannaville, no matter what the circumstances are or the reality of the situation, is going to struggle to be successful. Hell, I would love to be the starting goaltender for the Atlanta Thrashers but no amount of positive thinking is going to make that happen. There IS reality.

Even more dangerous is the person who surrounds themselves with "yes men." This person wants everyone around them to say "Your idea is GREAT!", "Wow, that is going to work!" "Yes, you can accomplish anything, boss!" Former boxer Mike Tyson paid someone to follow him around and say "You da man, Mike!" Mike Tyson is broke now because no one ever told him "no."

The person who is going to be the most successful is the pragmatist. The pragmatist is positive but does not ignore the negative or the reality of the situation. If he is going in the wrong direction, he recognizes it and makes changes. If he receives a piece of advice that is contrary to his thinking, he considers it and does not dismiss it because it's not "positive." The pragmatist believe that the best result will happen but plans for the worst.

Here is the key distinction: The pragmatist presents suggestions that could be perceived as being negative in a neutral light. For example, the boss wants to place a full page ad in the New York Times with a big picture of himself and his company's logo. The marketing director could say, "That is a horrible, horrible idea, boss!"

This is obviously going to meet with a negative reaction." The pragmatist would say, "Every single study down over the past 100 years shows that type of ad is not going to produce the results you want. I suggest we at least look at a different approach." Same suggestion but presented in a neutral way.

One of Napoleon Hill's keys to success was "accurate thinking." Most people who read "Think And Grow Rich" ignore this and instead only focus in on "if i believe it, I can thinking." The pragmatist is positive but also looks at the reality of the situation and makes his decisions based on that.

*The* key to *everything*...

I wanted to write you a quick note this beautiful Saturday morning to give you the key to everything.

That's a pretty big statement, wouldn't you agree?! The truth is that what I am about to tell you is the key to everything when it comes to the success with your business.

If you have you this ONE thing, it cures virtually all your problems. You'll have all the dee-nero you want, all the referrals you can handle and your profits will soar. Ready for this big secret? here 'tis...

A steady flow of hot pre-qualified leads.

That's it.

If you have lots and lots and lots of people interested in buying what you're selling calling you or coming into your business, you will be successful even if your sales process sucks. (Of course, you want to make sure your sales process does not suck.)

The single most important business activity you can engage in is generating, pre-qualified leads. How many ways are you using to fill your pipeline with leads? Might be time to crank it up.

Have a great weekend.

Workin' my fingers to the bone...

Yesterday, I told you I was going to make a big announcement today. Well, despite working my fingers to the bone, I won't be ready to release the details until Monday. It'll be worth the wait though.

Because I need to get back to work on this new project, I've once again enlisted the help of one of my most popular newsletter contributors, Yanik Silver. As usual, Yanik is right on the money.

Have a great weekend and, of course,

Kick butt, make mucho dee-nero!

Dave Dee

===================================
Why Working Hard Is Not Enough
By Yanik Silver
===================================

As I was sitting here writing out this newsletter we had a chimney repairman and a landscaper come out to the house. Out of my window I could see both of them doing their jobs.

Let me tell you these guys work *hard*.

Both of them get up very early in the morning and put in a full day's work. The chimney repairman is dangerously perched at least 50 feet above the ground for most of the day. And our neighborhood landscaper is breaking his back carrying heavy bags of mulch all day.

The point is these guys put in an honest day's labor for honest day's wage every day. They aren't sleeping on the job or goofing off. They're working their butts off - but that's not enough!

Do you know the big secret neither one of these fellows (or most other people) ever figure out?
It's so simple once you understand and it can have a profound effect on your wealth. Here it is...

Your income cannot be limited by the amount of hours you can put in. Each one of us are given 24 hours and it doesn't matter if you are a chimney repairman, landscaper, CEO, homeless bum, or Internet entrepreneur. We all have the same 24 hours to work with. Most people simply work -get paid, work - get paid, work - get paid. You put in 8 hours on the job - you get paid for 8 hours. You put in 40 hours a week - you get 40 hours in salary. That's the way we've been taught to do it - and the sad truth is you'll never get ahead doing what everyone else does (that's a lesson in itself).

You need to think about how you can turn more and more of your activities into ongoing revenue seeds. First you build one ongoing income stream and then another, and another and
another. Let me give you a real example from my business to illustrate this.

I created Instant Sales Letters (www.davedee.com/letters.html) in February 2000. Every single day we get orders for this product and at $40 - $55/pop it adds up. Last year this one site brought in Six Figures for me. I created the product once and now get paid over and over again (Though I have added to the letters and revised them several times.) Now think about
that. Work I did once keeps paying me every single day no matter what I do. That's a good deal.
Once that first stream is rolling - you can expand into another stream. For me, it came from people asking me how I grew Instant Sales Letters and made it so successful online so fast.

That's when I started teaching Internet marketing based on what I did not just reading about it or talking about it. So my second stream was a product called "Instant Internet Profits" (www.davedee.com/instantinternet.html). This was a complete guide I created that documented everything I did. That sold well and kept selling. And just a few months ago I totally revised it based on everything new I've learned in the last few years.

After "IIP", I went to work on creating additional products. Of course, some sell better than others but together they are responsible for bringing in millions and millions each year.

My thinking is squarely on how can I get the most leverage and ongoing income from any activity. For instance, if I do a teleconference series (like www.davedee.com/webcopy.html) then I will sell the LIVE calls for "x" amount and then have the calls recorded to turn it into a product I can keep selling for "y" amount. Then going even further, I could take excerpts from that product and use them as articles or free ebooks to be passed along to get additional business. Do you see how it works? Try to get paid over and over again for activities done once. Make that your mantra.

Now here's the warning. With all this said, don't get fooled by the idea nearly everyone gets. It goes something like this - "Well, if I can create 10 different products each making $1,000/month - I'll make $10,000 every month."

Yes, that's a great thought but what happens is you get sidetracked and lose focus working on more than one project at once.

Believe me, I fall for this trap also. Your best bet is to focus on product #1 first and *only* after you have that securely in place move along to product #2. Trust me, I realize there are so many opportunities available online that you want to grab each one - but the only thing you'll do is run around like a headless chicken.

You can see from my examples my multiple revenue streams consists of information products. I love info products because of all the incredible advantages.

But this advice will work just as well for any kind of passive revenue stream. I hope you spend some time to think about this.

Do what you teach, you fool...

Okay, let's get right to the point...

I am a dumb ass.

Early this week, during a phone consultation with my private client, Marty Fogarty, I was admonishing him to tell stories in his emails and sales letters. He took my advice immediately and wrote a killer email.

Then Alexis pointed out to me, kinda harshly I might add :), that I had not told my story or the stories of any my speakers in any of my sales copy for my "Life Change Revolution Millionaire Maker Boot Camp." No stories at all.

Listen up mi amigo: The number way to sell whether in person, over the telephone or in print is with stories. What is the #1 best selling book of all time? If you answered, "The Bible", you are correct. And what is the Bible made up of? Correct again-stories!

So as my favorite speaker Jim Rohn says, "Listen very carefully to what I say. Just don't watch me too closely."

PS: Oh, you wanna see my new and improved website for the "Life Change Revolution Millionaire Maker Boot Camp?" Let's return to good old American values...

I was watching the Republican party debate last night and in between dozing off, I was less than impressed. And just so there is no misunderstanding, I am even LESS impressed with the candidates on the Democratic side.

But my message today is not about politics, it's about what it really takes to succeed. What I'm going to tell you is definitely not sexy, it won't sell millions of books and contains no new age success manifestation techniques. No, it comes down to the good old American value of:

Hard Work.

Pretty, exciting, eh? Maybe it's not, but it IS the truth.

Listen, I know and am friends with a lot of the moneymaking gurus who preach and sell "how to get rich quick" stuff. "Sit on your butt, eat potato chips, drink beer, watch football and become a millionaire" is one helluva good sales pitch. But it is not reality.

Everyone I know who is massively successful, works hard, really hard. Also, the happiest successful people I know, play hard. They have the ability to turn off work and just have fun.

The key to living the good life is to work harder and smarter and take time to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Eight Millionaire Success Principles

=========================================
"The life you have led doesn't need to be the only life you have."
- Anna Quindlen
=========================================

Today, I'm going to give you a valuable gift. In fact it has so much worth that I suggest you print this out and keep it in a place where you can refer back to it.

Here are eight fundamental principles of success that, if engaged in, will catapult you to the next level:

1. Ideas are meaningless unless you take action.Everyone has a ton of ideas. Execution is the only thing that matters.

2. Keep things simple. The more complicated something becomes the less likely it is to be successful and the less likely you are going to follow through.

3. Do what you love.

4. Design your life on paper and then create your business plan so that your business helps you to live the life you desire.

5. Ready-fire-aim. I've talked about this many times before. Take action immediately, don't wait until things are purpose. You need to get things done quickly.

6. Use the incredible power of your subconscious mind to help you achieve what you want and find solutions to your problems.

7. Be a lifetime learner. Invest in yourself and your education.

8. You must believe that you can be successful if you are going to be successful. What you can conceive and believe with EMOTION you can achieve.

Yup, these are simple concepts, but they are universal and extremely powerful.

Oftentimes we look for new and esoteric ways to change our lives when in reality all we have to do is follow the old, time proven principles of success.

Remember: Keep it simple.

Words of wisdom from The Boss...

"You shot through my anger and rage
To show me my prison was just an open cage
There were no keys no guards
Just one frightened man and some old shadows for bars."
-Bruce Springsteen, "Living Proof"

I'm a big Springsteen fan and I'm psyched to go see him live at the end of this month. I often quote The Boss in my Inner Circle newsletter. The reason is that many of his songs talk about life.

If you really contemplate the lyrics above, you will see that Bruce reveals the secret to success and what is holding many people back from getting what they really want.

"Anger and rage": So many people are angry and frustrated that they are aren't where they want to be be financially, physically, spiritually, etc.

"To show me my prison was just an open cage." Oftentimes we believe that we are locked into our circumstances with no way to escape. When, in reality, we just need to change our mindset and take different actions to change everything.

"There were no keys, no bars. Only one frightened man and some old shadows for bars." Wow. There is really nothing holding you back except your beliefs about what is possible. The shadows of past failures and/or past programming is what is keeping you locked up in your current circumstances. And what is it that you fear? Is it the fear of failure or the fear of success?

Most people don't want to engage in this type of deep introspection. But if you do, if you ask yourself the tough questions, the answers can put you on the road to greater success.

Have a great weekend!

Why most websites suck

Oh sure, some of them look pretty. Some of them were even designed by "web masters" and use fancy, schmancy "flash"programming. (You know where it looks like you're seeing a video or a sophisticated slide show and where it takes forever to load even if you have DSL. You know, those sites where you are so bored waiting that you click off of it.)

Here is what your web site should accomplish. I'm going to make this real simple:

1. Secure a lead for you and/or
2. Make a sale

That's it! This web stuff is so easy, isn't it?

Okay, now let's say you've got a sales letter web site and you are driving your prospects to it. What happens if they don't buy right away?

Statistics show that it takes on average, 7 contacts, with a prospect to make a sale.
In direct mail we accomplish this with a series of letters, phone calls, etc. No problem. But if someone comes to your web site and doesn't book you right away, you're screwed, right?
Not if you can capture their contact information! Then you can send them a series of emails just like you would direct mail pieces. If you get their name and physical address, you can contact them offline. This is vitally important stuff!

Let me outline a quick strategy for you:

1. Someone comes to your web site

2. You offer them a free report via email that interests them and has value for them.

3. They opt in by giving you their name and email address. The free report is emailed to them.

4. You follow-up to sell them on hiring you.

Now, step #2 could easily be instead of a free report, you offer them a demo video. It doesn't matter. What matters is that you get their contact information.

If you don't make the sale or don't get the prospect's contact information for follow-up, everything you've done to drive the person to your web site is a waste.

How does your web site measure up?

Kick butt, make mucho dee-nero,

Don't do it *just* for this...

As you probably know, I'm conducting a boot camp in November where I am going to give attendees a blueprint for turning their passion into profits.

For the people who don't know what their passion is, we are going to help them uncover it.

***BUT***

What I won't be encouraging people to do is to*just* start a business because they think it will make them mucho "dee-nero." Selecting a business *just* because of the profit potential is not the formula for long term success and fulfillment.

Notice the emphasis on the word *just."

You also can't start a business just because you love to do something. If there is not a market for what you are selling, then you are going to struggle.

The BEST combination is to do something you love that there is a market for. This means that you might need to "twist", "turn" and reshape what you love to turn it into a profitable business. Here's an example of what I mean.

Let's say that you love golf. Your dream job might be to be a professional golfer but if you shoot in the low 90's, the odds of you making this dream come true are slim. But what about opening up an online golf store or starting a golf information marketing business where you travel around the world playing the best courses and writing about it? (Don't laugh. There is a show on TV called the "Thirsty Traveller." This guy travels around the word and drinks!)

So figure out what you enjoy and then think about how you can turn that into a full or part time business. Now you are on your way to success.

If have a already turned your passion into profits, what is the single best piece of advice you would give someone just starting out? Post your answer to the blog.

Kick butt, make mucho dee-nero!

PPS: The other day, I was speaking with Bill Glazer during the Dan Kennedy Sales Seminar which I spoke at. Is all this metaphysical success stuff B.S.?

I'm back in Atlanta after my whirlwind tour of the U.S.

Today, I was interviewed by real estate guru Rachel Young. (Rachel is one of my featured speakers at my boot camp. If you haven't registered, do so now by going to http://www.davedee.com/bootcamp) During the interview, I had a revelation that I wanted to share with you.

A lot of motivational speakers talk about the "Law Of Attraction" and how the universe will deliver to you what you want as long as you ardently desire it. This is a warm, fuzzy mysterious sounding concept. It's nice to believe that you can just "think and grow rich." Unfortunately, if you just think about about being successful, eventually they will take your house away.

I do NOT completely buy into the law of attraction or any of the other metaphysical success stuff. In fact, I think most of it is hooey. But here is my revelation:

The purpose of affirmations, visualizations, and working on all the mental aspect of success is NOT because some mystical universal energy is going to help you succeed. It's because if your mindset is not correct, if you don't BELIEVE that you can achieve what you desire, you will not take the necessary ACTIONS to make it happen. All the mental stuff is designed so you will take the actions necessary to achieve what you want.

You attract what you want by the actions you take NOT because of what you think. BUT your mindset needs to be right in order for you to take those actions.

Of course, my very logical theory is not as "sexy" or "mysterious" as "visualize what you want and universal intelligence will plop it into your lap" but it is very practical.

I'm very interested in your thoughts. Post 'em to the blog.

Kick butt, make mucho dee-nero!

How it feels to be a jetsetter

Holy Moly...

I have been in Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, and Washington D.C. in the past six days. That is a lot of planes and airports.

Most of my flights were pretty boring. There were the usual delays and strip searches. (Well, I didn't actually get strip searched but did have security pat me down.) The flight attendants ranged from bored, to angry to doing their job by rote - except on one airline.

On my flight from Chicago to LA on American Airlines, I encountered the BEST flight attendant ever. She truly seemed to love her job and appeared to be genuinely pleased to serve the passengers. She was very well put together, smiled the entire for the entire four and a half hour flight and was friendly while remaining super professional. She was so good that a frequent flying couple in the first class section, who obviously knew her from past flights, gave her an expensive piece of jewelry as a gift.

The other flight attendants on American were outstanding too. Not quite as good as Super Flight Attendant but light years ahead of every other airline. Do you think is a coincidence. No way, Jose.

I'm sure Super Flight Attendant raised every one's game but I'm also sure that American has a superior training program that focuses on customer service.

Do you have such a training program, even if the only person in your customer service department right now is you? How someone answers your phone, answers customer emails and treats your customers on a consistent basis has a MAJOR impact on your business. And the only way to make sure your customers are treated the way you want them to be is to having training and policies and procedures.

Customer service needs to be part of your marketing plan because it has everything to do with marketing.
