Do you have this much passion?

I'm on JetBlue flying to New York City, watching the movie"Once."

The main character is a struggling musician who earns his money performing for tips on the streets of London. Recently, I watch a killer three man rock band perform for tips on Venice Beach.

First, it frustrates the hell out of me when I see really great musicians and bands struggling when no talented, totally image driven hacks top the charts.

But on a deeper level, I have tremendous respect and admiration for someone who so passionately loves what he does that it makes it virtually impossible for him to do anything else.

I am not talking about someone who is doing something out of fear, laziness or to avoid taking responsibility. But rather someone who will risk it all to make their dream come true.

Do you have that kind of passion for your work and your mission? Think about this deeply...it's an important question.

My personal answer to this question might surprise you. It is, no, I do not have the kind of passion. I love what I do but am I like the street musician with true passion. Nope, not even close.

So the question for you (and I) is how can we make changes in our business or CHANGE our businesses so we have that type of passion for it? Is it even possible? The answer is"of course" but it takes the willingness to work at making that a reality.

Whatya say we get to work?

Kick butt, make mucho dee-nero!

A disease that kills entrepreneurs...

Today I am going to talk to you about a deadly disease that infects many entrepreneurs and ends up killing a lot of them.

The disease? Having an employee mentality.

Having an employee mentality is insidious. It has people believe that they are entitled to get paid. That they should only work so hard. That someone else is responsible for their success. That if they are not making enough dee-nero, that it's someone else's fault. That they don't need to be proactive. That they don't need to take risks. That they are working in the business as opposed to on the business. And on and on and on.

Listen, I understand that some people are not cut out to be entrepreneurs. I know that some people fear not having a job and the security of a regular paycheck. (By the way, that "security" is a friggin' joke! Working for someone else and having someone else control your destiny is the opposite of security!)

But, I also know that there are a LOT of people who desperately want to be entrepreneurs, who hate what they are doing and having a burning desire to have their own business. If this describes YOU, you must first rid yourself of the employee mentality. You must think and then act like an entrepreneur.

You might be asking, "How do massively successful entrepreneurs think and act?" We, mi amigo, you'll have to wait until tomorrow for that.

Live a life of passion, purpose and prosperity!

PS: On Friday, I am going to reveal who my speakers are for my November "Life Change Revolution Millionaire Maker Boot Camp" AND what the absolute five best businesses are for you to start, part time from your home. Here's the dealio, once this information gets out, tickets to the boot camp are gonna be flying out the door. My advice is to yours NOW.

PPS: HUGE price increase announcement! I have been dumber than a sack of hammers for charging less than one hundred bucks for my "Your Marketing Department In A Box." Far inferior programs of this type are selling for as much as $1,500. Well, on Thursday, I'm am rectifying this situation by raising the price waaaaay up. Truth is, it will still be a bargain BUT, if you want to legally "steal" it from me, you better get it NOW. Go to: http://www.davedee.com/box

How to get from here to there

I just got back from speaking in Chicago to a group of magicians...something I have not done in a number of years.

It was neat to to see old friends and to, once again, experience the thrill of people telling me how they are living their dream because of me. (Signing autographs was fun too!)

On the flight back to LA, I started thinking about how I went from working at a job I despised to where I am today and then how I am going to get to the next level. The answer is the same and I am going to give you the formula for making it happen in your life.

First is to know what you want! Kinda obvious but most people miss this step! You need to clearly define where you want to go.

Second, is to create unshakable self confidence. (We are going to be doing some *very* powerful techniques to make this happen at my "Millionaire Maker Boot Camp- http://www.davedee.com/bootcamp)

Third, is to find someone who has already achieved what you want to achieve and follow his or her blueprint.

Fourth, take action in spite of your fear and lapses of confidence. You might think that this contradicts what I said in step two. It doesn't. It's reality. Even the most confident person on the planet has times when they question themselves but they still move forward in pursuit of what they want.

Fifth is to continually readjust your actions based upon the results you are getting. You canNOT just blindly keep taking action and think that is all it is going to take. Just being persistent is not going to get you to where you want to go if you are headed in the wrong direction.

If you analyze this five part success formula, you'll see it boils down to two main components: What you THINK and what you DO. You need to have both your mindset and the actions you take to be in alignment.

At my upcoming boot camp, we are focusing on both of these areas. You are going to get blueprints for making tons of dee-nero AND you are going to leave the event with your mind programmed for massive success.

If you are ready for a true life change, then beg, borrow or steal to attend the "Life Change Revolution Millionaire Maker Boot Camp" You can register at http://www.davedee.com/bootcamp

Let the craziness begin!

Happy Friday!

Over the next week I will be in Chicago, Los Angeles and Washington before coming home to good ole Atlanta. I'm going back to my roots and speaking at a seminar for magicians as a favor for the guy who bought my information marketing business earlier this year. Then, I'm one of the featured speakers at a Dan Kennedy seminar about selling. Should be fun.

(Speaking of Dan Kennedy, his "Magnetic Marketing" course literally changed my life and helped me to go from doing three magic shows a month to over 30 shows a month in less than three months. He's got a dynamite, free online course that you should definitely check out. Go to: http://www.dankennedywebsite.com/free.htm)

Today, we're going to continue with the second part of the interview I did with multi-millionaire business owners about how they experienced massive growth in their business:

4. Focus on what customers care about. After listening to the admissions director talk about what should be shown in the school's new recruiting video, the marketing consultant asked, "Is this what parents and prospective students are interested in knowing?" Suddenly, everyone became less confident. Someone suggested asking the student tour guides what questions the visiting parents and kids asked? Whether creating an ad, a brochure, or a sales presentation, knowing what the customer wants, needs and expects is what works.

5. Tell customers how to think about your company. We come to conclusions by making comparisons. If you don't let customers and prospects know why it is in their best interests to do business with you or buy your product, they won't. The rating of life insurance companies makes an impact on customers.

The J.D. Powers' customer-satisfaction survey on cars and personal computer manufacturers influences buying behavior.Wise companies spend time and effort consciously influencing the way they are perceived by customers, prospects, banker sand stockholders.

6. Make your offers outstanding. Customers are cautious. They don't like being put on the spot; they don't want to make a mistake. This is why offers are essential. "Try it for 30 days...free." "We won't deposit your credit card slip for a month." "Take the car for the weekend and drive it all you want." The goal is to overcome the customer's reluctance.

To be continued tomorrow...

Live a life of passion, purpose and prosperity!

~Dave Dee

P.S. Wanna know another secret? I have made an absolute killing with the license I bought to sell all of Dan Kennedy's products. It's beautiful because I don't have to write any sales copy, Dan has already done it. I don't have to create any products, Dan has already done it. I don't have to fulfill any of the products I've sold - that's already done for me. If you're looking for a killer extra stream of dee-nero, licensing might be for you. Humbled, touched and blown away...

The outpouring of support I got yesterday after the painful announcement of my divorce was humbling.

Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts, prayers and experiences with me. (See the comments from yesterday's blog and you'll see what I mean.) In all honesty, your comments gave m strength and comfort. My appreciation runs deep.

Over the next few days, I'm going give you a special treat. I decided it would be fun to interview 10 of the smartest marketing gurus I know, including 7 multi-millionaires,about the best ways to increase customer and cash flow for just about any business.

What I got were a variety of fresh, innovative ideas -- and once you read them, you will know that they came from a group of folks who have already made it big in businesses of their own.
The following is part one of my 5 part series the "15 Best"ideas for super charging your business, no matter what kind of business you are in.

Here's part uno:

1. "Same-Old" is out -- Getting attention with something new is in. To get new business, you must strive to be innovative and dramatic. For example, an insurance agency, offered "the biggest steak dinner in town" if it couldn't save any person money on their car insurance. This challenge was enough to make the telephone start ringing off the hook for days at a time.
The customer flow was "absolutely crazy" for days. The bottom line: dozens of new insurance buyers and tons of new cash flow -- and all they had to do was fork out the cost for a half dozen steak dinners!

2. Tight target marketing. The big job in marketing and sales is getting to the right people inside another company.Addressing mail to "Facilities Manager" or printing a"routing slip" on the outside of the envelope is ineffective. Hitting the target is the challenge.Scoring a bull's eye means making contact with the right individual sand is the only way to make the sale. Taking time to be highly targeted in business communication is essential.

3. Be more creative. Pushing direct-mail pieces out the door or sending the newsletter to the mail room isn't doing the job. Ask yourself: "Will anyone be intrigued enough to read the mailer--before tossing it in the wastebasket?" Ask the same question about the company newsletter. A highly creative approach is necessary to be different and distinctive. Creativity costs money. But, if more people read the ad, take time with the newsletter or decide that the offer in a mailer makes sense, you have accomplished the goal.

To be continued tomorrow...

What to do when hit rock bottom?

Today, I am going to open my heart to you and tell you something very personal and painful.

In about two hours from now, I will be divorced. This is the most painful experience of my entire life, bar none.

Many of you, who have been with me throughout the years know my wife Tracey. In the early years she basically ran my office, listened to my crazy plans and always supported me.She is handling the divorce with strength and dignity. In fact, we are driving to and from the courthouse together.

The truth, my friend, is that right now, I am at the lowest point of my life. Some people have told me to not admit that or admit that I struggle at times. "You're supposed to be the 'guru'", they say. Well, first, I don't want to be anyones "guru". I want to help people achieve what they want with their life and the best way for me to do that is not to put up some phony facade. I'm a real guy who is going to be real with you.

In the midst of all of this, I need to remember to count my enormous blessings and be grateful for all that I have in my life. And honestly, I count my customers in those lists.

So wherever you are in your life, pause right now, shut your eyes for a minute and give thanks for all of your blessings. Please take the time to do it now.

Sincerely,

~Dave Dee

Gonna watch some heads get pounded!

Tonight I'm taking my seven year old son David to go see the World Wrestling Entertainment event in downtown Atlanta. I think I am as excited as he is!

As a kid, I used to LOVE professional wrestling. In fact, my best buddy Geno and I staged a wrestling match in his backyard and actually sold tickets to the event. (Of course, the only two "wrestlers" were he and I!)

Now whether you like pro wrestling or hate it, there is something very, very valuable you can learn from it and that is the art of storytelling.

What makes wrestling popular is the over the top characters and story lines. It is NOT the actual fighting in the ring. That is secondary. The STORIES are what keep people tuned in, buying pay per view events and going to the live shows.

I haven't watched wrestling in years and don't really know any of the characters or story lines. But when I go to the matches tonight, I betcha I will easily be able to get caught up on all of that stuff very quickly. Why? Again because the writers for the WWE are master storytellers.

If you want to get people's attention and keep it, then you must also learn to tell compelling stories. This is a huge ten star tip that I am giving you! Tell stories about your life, about your kids about other people, about things you read -but whatever you do, tell stories!

Live a life of passion, purpose and prosperity!

How NOT to get everything you want

If you have read the last two days of my email and blog posts, you know that I am doing a three day cleanse of my mind, body and spirit.

I've learned a lot about myself, not all of it pleasant and I discovered some key truths of getting what you want out of life and what NOT to do.

I have a tendency to get all excited and motivated to do something and then set up a complicated plan for making it happen. I set up waaaaay to many disciplines that I have to adhere to and then, when I fail to follow one of the disciplines, I get discouraged and, before you know it, I'm not executing my plan at all.

Take for example my cleanse. Instead of just doing the brain dump and maybe the physical cleanse, I added other restrictions like no music, no friends and no going to watch the Dolphins game or my favorite show "Curb Your Enthusiasm." There was absolutely no reason to commit to those restrictions and, in fact, I felt like I was punishing myself instead of doing something good for myself. (I did follow through on not doing those things but I resented it.)

Here is a major revelation I had:

It is FAR better to commit to a small discipline that you can focus and follow through on than it is to come up with a huge list of disciplines you are going to try to do. For example, if you have not exercised in a long time, do not commit to a discipline of jogging, lifting weights and doing yoga six times a week. Instead, commit to a discipline of getting up every morning or three times a week and walking for 15 minutes. Then, when you have mastered that discipline, add to it a little. Here is the key:

Commit to small disciplines to build your discipline commitment "muscle." And I mean , really small disciplines. When you follow through on what you promise yourself you are going to do, no matter how small, your self esteem and confidence will grow. As a result, you'll be able to commit to larger and larger disciplines.

This is the secret to success in all aspects of your life. So think about ONE small discipline you can commit to on a daily basis, write it down, schedule it and then start doing it.

Live a life of passion, purpose and prosperity!

The most overlooked success habit

Well, I made it through the first day of my cleanse with flying colors. There were a couple of times I had to fight off the temptation to eat but I did!

One of the things that occurs when I do a cleanse is my mind becomes very clear. And that is one of Napoleon Hill's success secrets that most people overlook, "Accurate Thinking."

The key to accurate thinking is to start off with an accurate appraisal of where you are right now, what it will take to get where you want to go and to set realistic expectations.

Some self-help gurus teach that you can "achieve anything you desire...anything you can conceive." This is true up to a point. But I'm not going to be the starting goaltender for the Atlanta Thrashers no matter how much I think about, visualize or affirm it.

Sometimes people set such huge goals within unrealistic time frames because they lack self confidence. They know is their heart of hearts that they can't achieve their goal. When they fail to achieve their massive goal they can justify it by saying, "But look at how huge my goal was."

In order to get what you want, accurately determine where you are right now, set realistic goals based on that and then start working like crazy to make it happen.

Live a life of passion, purpose and prosperity!

The Cleanse Begins

As I talked about yesterday, today I am starting a three day physical, spiritual, emotional and mental cleanse.

I woke up this morning and really prayed, read my Bible and then read a little book by Stuart Wilde titled, "Life Was Not Meant To Be A Struggle." I have more prayer and spiritual reflection planned throughout the day and over the next three days.

My physical cleanse today consists of an all fresh juice day. (Do you own a juicer? You should get one. It is a great investment in your health.) I just drank two glasses of fresh pineapple juice. The morning "meals" are made up of fruit juices and the evening are vegetable juices.

Right after I finish this email, I'm going to do a huge"brain dump" where I'll write down *everything* I need to do, everything I want to be, do, or have and everything I fear.

Part of my cleanse consists of watching no television, no surfing the Internet, no music and no hanging out with friends. It is about doing something for me.

Next year, I am contemplating holding an event where a group of us would do a cleanse together. I think it would be an amazing, life changing experience. (I'll put that on my to do list!)

As entrepreneurs, we have a tendency to "go, go, go" and never take any time for ourselves.

Although this seems like a noble idea and something that will get us "ahead" faster,it actually holds us back.

Life is about balance. Sure, there are times when you need to be out of balance but if it will have a detrimental effect on your work, on your health and on your personal life if carried out over a long period of time.

My intuition is that I will have more business, personal, emotional and spiritual breakthroughs over the next three days than I have had in months.

I'm pleased to be sharing my journey with you.

Live a life of passion, purpose and prosperity!

~Dave Dee

Playing in the rain...

I literally just walked in the door from playing outside with my kids in a Georgia rainstorm.
It was invigorating, liberating, cleansing and fun.

As adults we often set aside our sense of child like curiosity and fun. We complain more and take things way to seriously. We sweat the small stuff. (However, unlike the title of the book suggests, I do NOT believe everything is small stuff.)

I am in the midst of going through the most difficult and painful year of my life. I take full responsibility for my circumstances for I indeed caused them. However, that fact does not make things any less difficult.

Today, I woke up very depressed and sad. Then, I started playing with my two beautiful children and I observed their uninhibited joy. I *felt* their smiles and laughter.
We played silly games and then went outside to the playground. It started to drizzle and then pour.

But instead of running to the car and getting upset, we walked very slowly. My babies then opened the window and stuck their heads out as we drove. When we got back, we did not rush inside. Instead we stood in the rain and let it soak us to the bone.

(I'm dripping wet right now as I write this to you.)

Starting tomorrow, I am beginning a three day cleanse of my mind, body and spirit. I will share with you exactly what I am doing and feeling and what is resulting from this cleanse.

Some people would tell me not to reveal this very personal type of information to my customers and subscribers. And they might be right from a marketing standpoint. However, my life mission has always been to make people feel good about themselves and to help them live the life they desire.

In order for me to do this, I need to be completely real and open with you. And the best way for me to do that is share apart of my life with you...the good and the bad.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Live a life of passion, purpose and prosperity,
~Dave Dee
